Reservoir Design, Operation & Maintenance 0.6 CEU- Presented by ATAP - This one-day workshop will provide water operators with information on potable water reservoir design, water quality regulations & monitoring techniques, problems associated with water storage, preventative operations & maintenance, methods of reservoir disinfection & cleaning, and daily reservoir operations, including seasonal changes.
City of Saskatoon- New Recycling Program-Presentation will review the elements of a municipal recycling program; including establishing measurable program performance outcomes, progressive procurement approaches, private sector partnerships, and technologies involved in program implementation.
The New Water Security Agency - The Water Security Agency is a newly formed Division of the Ministry of the Environment. This presentation will discuss the history of the Drinking Water Quality Section, the current organizational structure- with its roles and responsibilities, the enhanced wapermitting and compliance, and issues involving municipal operations. EPOs will provide a question/answer session following.
Uni-Directional Water Main Flushing - Uni-directional flushing is an effective way to clean water mains to maintain water quality and system capacity. By isolating runs through systematic opening and closing of mainline valves, a higher water velocity is achieved which, in turn, provides better scouring of pipes and uses less water volume. ATAP will discuss procedures on how this high-speed flushing maximizes the shear velocity near the pipe wall, that effectively removes sediment deposits, biofilm and more
Alternative Energy Products - City of Saskatoon, Over half of Saskatoon's ecological footprint is due to energy use. As the city grows, there will be an even greater demand for energy. Future growth in demand and anticipated changes in environmental regulations will require a new approach to meeting our energy needs in a sustainable way.Saskatoon Light & Power is working on several initiatives to achieve a diverse and environmentally sustainable energy system using local renewable energy supplies.
Wastewater Composting - Enviroperfect Solutions - Composting offers an ideal solution for many agricultural, environmental and municipal waste management challenges. When done right, composting is an effective way to reduce the volume of material entering the landfills, improve profitably and environmental responsibly, while returning nutrients to the soil on farms and in urban parks and play areas.
